Account Manager

Manage the relationship between Indaba Mobile and the client at a junior level. Ensuring that the client’s queries and needs are seen to (investigated, communicated to superior, feedback to client and followed up on) as well as using experience and knowledge in the mobile industry to help the client make decisions regarding their app. Reports to: Marketing and Sales Director

Core Capablilities

Marketing Executive

  • Marketing/ PR/ Business diploma or degree
  • Basic work experience, but very willing to learn
  • Interest in mobile/ digital

Account Manager

  • Marketing/ Business diploma or degree
  • 1 - 2 years’ experience in a similar position and/ or experience in a similar industry
  • Mobile knowledge would be advantageous
  • Person should be willing to learn different programs and processes
  • They should be motivated, hardworking and always willing to help
  • They should get along well with people as the position requires that they work closely with a number of different people. A team player
  • Strong admin skills – meeting minutes, note taking, sending feedback to relevant people and following up on issues
  • They should be able to think like an end user
  • Good knowledge of the English language would be very beneficial as you are often required to put forward copy for the app
  • You shouldn’t mind having to work over time if/ when needed

Key Tasks

  • Manage relationship with client at a junior level
  • Report back to General Manager/ Deliverables Manager
  • Deal with clients general queries and needs and communicate back to respective person within Indaba
  • Investigate issues the client is experiencing, communicate to technical/ dev team and provide feedback to client
  • Manage content on the clients application (upload, keep updated, deal with any problems there may be, investigate better ways to display or obtain content)
  • Getting familiar with the CMS system and continuously looking for ways to improve the system
  • Give advice based on app knowledge and passed experienced
  • Testing to make sure that bugs have been fixed and that overall the end users experience is the best one possible
  • A typical day will involve testing, reporting bugs or ways to improve an app. Uploading content and making sure it renders on the app correctly. Getting feedback from the client on issues and helping them resolve them. Preparing copy for the app, working closely with the general manager/ deliverables manager and assisting where needed (No day is really the same and a large amount of work comes from ad-hoc tasks)

Senior System Engineer

Core Capablilities

  • Excellent Linux Skills (Debian/Redhat Flavours) – 5 years solid experience
  • Excellent Networking and Firewall Skills , as well as IPSEC , Routing , VPN ,Vlan , DNS and Switching Knowledge (Specially with Fortigate and Cisco based systems) – 5 years solid experience
  • Good Windows Server Knowledge – 5 year solid experience
  • Ldap technology
  • Development Background in PHP / JAVA – 2 years experience
  • Good Sql Knowledge , Especially with mysql / Percona – 3 years experience
  • Keen Interest to Research and develop new technology
  • Have a good understanding of Protocols and security principles
  • Able to work Flexiable Hours
  • Able to work unattended and as part of a team
  • Able to work under High pressure and tight deadlines

Key Tasks

  • Installing and configuring of bare metal servers
  • installing and configuring of VM servers
  • Installing and configuring of ejabber , tomcat , glassfish , cassandra , talend , tableaue,mysql,percona servers aswell windows servers and java App servers
  • Capacity planning and networking planning
  • maintaining monitoring system
  • actively support and monitor all running servers
  • Deploy new software with a roll back strategy as needed

Back End Developer

Core Capablilities

  • Bsc / Bsc (Hons) / Msc / PhD
  • No Experience needed but a deep understanding of operating systems,data structures, algorithms is necessary.
  • This answer is two folder, in theory if they have done development in other positions but still have an understanding of developing scalable systems then they could come from other positions. However experience is always a positive.
  • Internet scale development experience is a big plus
  • Someone who is passionate about build scalable solutions, writing systems while always thinking about efficiency. Someone who keeps up to date with the latest technologies available and how they can be applied in the back-end systems.

Key Tasks

  • Aims of position – Maintain existing systems, add functionality, build additional systems, examine the current environment criticallyand thinking of how things can be improved to give the overall system more scalability and robustness
  • Day-to-day duties – reading up on new and existing technologies, designing solutions to smaller tasks and implementing and debuging them. Who the job reports to – Graydon, Technical Director / Lead Back-end developer (This will change as the company grows and each system has a team of developers. In the future you would have lead developer for system X.
  • The 'job process' from start to finish – Discussions with the Technical director about the progress forward, designing the proposed solution, implementing the solution and performing the necessary testing to ensure that the solution is production ready. A 'typical day' (if appropriate) – Solving existing issues and bug fixes. Implementing new systems and extensions.
  • Examples of one-off projects (livens up the job - livens up the spec) – The project that I have been working is moving all IM interation storage to a new scalable and fault tolerant database built by Facebook. More specifically, integrating ejabberd with cassandra to handle User profiles, Rosters and Messages.

Database Administrator

The role will include designing, supporting and maintaining all system databases across operations, development and reporting. A combination of system administration skills and an understanding of customer needs will be crucial to success.

Core Capablilities

  • At least 5 years of MySQL DBA experience.
  • Experience in high transactional development environments.
  • Experience of working in n-Tier, Client Server and Database environment as well as experience with Open source/Linux development and production environments.
  • Exposure to NoSQL technologies (e.g. Cassandra)
  • Exposure to and design of high transaction based data models
  • Self-motivated and flexible.
  • Personable, reliable and comfortable to work closely with clients at all levels

Key Tasks

  • Database Administration activities of MySQL5 databases.
  • Optimisation, support and maintenance of the existing database infrastructure across production and reporting instances.
  • Architecture and design recommendations and implementations, in terms of future expansion.
  • Documentation as required.
  • Mentoring of development team and recommendations on the SQL structure used in code.
